American Automatic Sprinkler Company

American Automatic Sprinkler Company, Inc. (AASCO) was established in 1975 by the late Austin M. Saffer of Arlington, Virginia. Following thirty years of steady, substantial growth, the company today is managed by Mr. Saffer’s sons, Joseph B. Saffer and Lyndsay R. Saffer. Based in a 26,000 square foot facility in Fairfax, Virginia, American Automatic Sprinkler Company performs work throughout Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia. AASCO maintains an excellent reputation throughout the fire protection industry for quality work, exceptional code compliance, and a family business approach which provides exceptional financial stability.

AASCO employs over 150 fire protection professionals for field installation. Each novice begins employment with the completion of a four-year apprenticeship training regimen sanctioned by both the Virginia Apprenticeship Council and the nationwide group Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC). Senior foremen are given great latitude in managing their specific projects and half of project managers are former field employees with substantial fire protection experience.

Both design and fabrication for AASCO projects are performed “in-house.” AASCO employs ten dedicated design engineers who all possess varying levels of NICET classifications. Using the latest AutoCad and HydraCad design applications and a database of over four-thousand greater DC-Metro area buildings, AASCO designers expeditiously produces accurate, code compliant digital drawings for both governing body approval and field installer use. AASCO specializes, and takes pride in, accommodating quick turn-around projects that do not afford the opportunity for several layers of re-review. AASCO is a member of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), American Fire Sprinkler Association (AFSA), and the Associated Builders and Contractors winning the 2002 and 2004 ABC Subcontractor of the Year.

AASCO sprung from humble beginnings thirty years ago and now holds a legitimate place in the Washington area region as experts in fire protection. Keeping in mind that the fire protection trade comprises one to one and a half percent of total construction contracts, AASCO gross revenues for 2005 exceeded 15 million dollars. By extension, AASCO was a construction team member for over 1.5 billion dollars of DC-Metro area development. With projects ranging from minor tenant build-outs, to repair and service, to large new construction and special hazard systems; AASCO has seized a large degree of the DC-Metro area development. With a steady, “Customer first,” approach AASCO will continue to carve a niche in Mid-Atlantic fire protection technologies.
